Balnagask
Make your way to the prominent headland which sits south-east of Aberdeen harbour, at the effluence of the River Dee into the North Sea, and here you will find another of the City Council’s municipal courses, kept in excellent condition throughout the year. The headland, completely bare of vegetation, is thus totally exposed to whatever Mother Nature throws at it. The result, from a golfer’s point of view, is that they will be regularly examined on their ability to control the ball in windy conditions. There are a few bonuses, however. At a touch under 5,500 yards, the links at Balnagask are not an exhaustive test. It is an ideal place for the youngster to learn the game; greens are smallish and a lot of improvisation is an essential component of the round.
