Towns & Villages / Old aberdeen

Here is preserved the ancient dwellings and town plan of what was once a separate burgh. The old town’s centre is now a conservation site, dotted with 17th and 18th century architecture like Aberdeen University’s King's College; an imposing four-square building erected around the famous Quadrangle. King's College Chapel, used for daily worship for five centuries, houses a collection of 15th century wood and ornamentation. The Visitor Centre is also a must, even just for its multimedia display and excellent coffee shop.

A stroll along the fine, old cobbled High Street will bring you to several quaint local suppliers, regional produce and a taste of how life could’ve been back in 18th century Aberdeenshire.
